Hello Portland Oregon Neurodivergent Folks (and nearby places like Vancouver WA [and further-away places!])! Sometimes the effort to mask for our neurotypical friends can be draining or frustrating. Sometimes we want to talk about this one awesome thing we love! Sometimes we want to be around people who get us.
This group is a place for neurodivergent folks (autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, etc.) in Portland, Oregon to find other neurodivergent folks with whom to hang out and have fun. This is an LGBTQIA2S+ -safe space. Self-diagnosis is valid: "If you think you belong here, you do."
Your humble co-organizer Meredith (she/her) is an autistic, divergent-thinking, learning-challenged female with the privilege of being white, educated, cis-, and hetero-, who shies away from leading but who loves to organize and has a bit of a calendar/scheduling kink. "Be Kind: We're All Idiots." "Always try to leave things better than you found them."
Your AuDHD co-organizer Sara (they/she) is a bit of an introvert, but when they do come out of their craft/cat-riddled hobbit hole to socialize, Rainbow Brains are hands-down their favorite people to spend time with. They are grateful to share this group with you and appreciate all of you for showing up in whatever ways make you shine your rainbow-iest.
We hope you'll reach out to us in a direct message via our Meetup group, Portland Circle of Rainbow Brains, or send us a message and tell us what you'd like to see. Let us know if you have an idea you want to host! We welcome chances to make events accommodating and want you to let us know your needs.
Cheers! Meredith and Sara
You can join our Meetup Group and/or contact us for a Slack invite.
Crafternoon Hang (Monthly on Zoom)
Join us for our monthly virtual meetup where we chat and make stuff!
We welcome any and all crafters/makers to drop in for fun chats and supportive community. Stay for a bit or the whole time, and we are always excited to see new faces join the crew. And if your thing is not strictly "crafting", that's ok too. If you like to make stuff and chat with awesome neuro-spicy folks, feel free to join!
We love to chat about all things both craft-related and not, so no topic is "off topic" in our group. That said, we do like to keep the conversation on the lighter side and if the topic ever veers into a place you're not comfortable please feel free to DM the event host and they'll casually help change the topic.
In-Person Meetups
